For $185, today’s side deal nets semi-private kiteboarding lesson for two (a $370 value) at Kite Club Hatteras, with locations in Avon, NC and Dewey Beach, DE
In one safe, three-hour lesson, Kite Club Hatteras’s friendly, expert instructor will guide riders through the basics of kiteboarding — an extreme water sport that pairs a small board with a large controllable kite to thrust riders across the water’s surface and into the air—in the beautiful Dewey Beach Area, which was awarded SUPERSTAR BEACH STATUS in June 2011.
In a thorough, hands-on class, riders will learn how to set up a four-line inflatable kite, the essentials of kite theory and the “wind window,” and proper procedures for selecting a weather-friendly location and communicating with fellow aeronauts. You’ll then soak in the dashing techniques necessary to perform, learning how to launch and land, fly the kite properly, and generate power to propel the board.
Soon, fusing careful movements with the power of bluster, you’ll defy earthbound physics to swish, cut, and fly above the water. Call to schedule your class.

In the first episode of “On the Loose,” we’re introduced to professional kitesurfers Aaron Hadlow and Ruben Lenten. Ruben shows us his home turf on the coast of Holland, before we head to South Africa to meet up with 5X World Champion, Aaron Hadlow. The two are reunited when they head to North Carolina to ride some new rails and kickers. After three days of intense boarding, the boys waste no time celebrating at some of the local bars in Cape Hatteras.
