What words can describe the one and only DJ Funk? Pioneer? Party Rocker? Ghetto House Icon? Lets start at the beginning, DJ Funk grew up on the musically rich West Side of Chicago where he was exposed at an early age to Chicago, New York & Detroit dance music. Developing from his early influences he started DJing out when he was just a teenager at house parties, school dances, and neighborhood clubs; selling mix CD’S in the hood with his former crew to make ends meet. Some of his early DJ influence were Grand Master Flash, African Bambada, Farley Jack Master Funk; basically all the original dance pioneers and there’s to many to name. Hip-Hop was also a big influence on DJ Funk and with his early DJ sets he helped push Hip Hop into the chicago club scene when it’s wasn’t yet popular or mainstream. Mixing House, Techno and Hip-Hop DJ Funk pioneered the “Ghetto House” sound and this sense of crossing boundaries has made his music so appealing and enduring to many people across different musical scenes.
DJing professional for over a decade DJ Funk has produced anthem after anthem of bouncing “Ass & Titty” Dance Music for his very own record company Dance Mania Records Inc. Plus, Funk’s remix resumé reads like the who’s who of dance music: Licensing deals with Sony, Virgin, Fabric Live, Moonshine and Edbanger records which is distributed by WEA. “REMIX” Basement Jaxx, Justice, DJ Sneak, Fast Man Dj Assault, to name a few. While licensing tracks to DJ’s such as Carl Cox, Bad Boy Bill, Jeff Miles, Dave Clark, Jack Master and many more for their mix Albums.
DJ Funk has played all over the world in high profile clubs in Chicago, New York, LA, Miami, Detriot, Paris, London, Germany, Scotland, Ireland, Amsterdam, Hawaii, Belgium, Malta, Canada, Spain, sweden, Switzerland, Finland, Australia, Norway even Tokyo. Sharing the stage along the way with the likes of Daft Punk, Green Velvet, Justice, Busta, Ed banger records, Franky Bones, Funk Master Flex, Ice T, The Roots, Steve Aoki,dj Ken Ishi, Tommie Sunshine, DJ Qbert, Wu Tang Clan, Busy P, Almond Van Helden, The Booty Call Crew, Boyz Noise, The Crookers, Grand Master Flash, Two Live Crew, African Bambada, Dance Mania Family Run DMC, to name drop a few and the list goes on and on and on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(HOUSE, CHICAGO IL)
Terry Mullan, Chicago’s turntablist extraordinaire, turns out dance floors week after week throughout the US and abroad. Any true fan of House Music knows his name, and celebrates his amazing DJ sets. His credits include Coachella, Starscape, Bugged Out, The End, Footwork, and Ruby Skye amongst raves as far off as Japan, Australia and Germany. He has developed a faithful following to those who know through his signature style of funky quirky jacking acid house combined with cutting and scratching making up an entirely new genre all his own.
Terry is going beyond just knowing his machines. This sound is put to the test on his releases on Robsoul, Definitive, Control, Funk’d, Chicago Housing Commission, Aciiieeed, and on his own imprint, Catalyst Recordings. Through his label he has released projects for the likes of DJ Sneak, Ian Pooley, Halo Varga, Mazi, Angel Alanis & TJR, as well as for himself under the monikers, Acid OG’s, Speakerphreaker, Tone Broke, and as Serotonin project on Richie Hawtin and John Acquaviva’s former imprint Definitive which featured Terry’s track “Sidewinder” on the Chemical Brothers “Brother’s Gonna’ Work It Out” Mix CD. Additionally, Terry gained notoriety for his records under the alias Speakerphreaker which includes the largely successful “Products Of Our Environment” EP, on Catalyst, which was featured on Pete Tong’s essential selection on BBC Radio 1 in the UK, & “La Nina/Nickel Bag Da Funk” EP on Smile Records, which was licensed to several top DJ mix compilations. Terry’s DJ’ing, label and tracks have earned him a reputation that extends worldwide. Never one to follow the masses, he borrowed from each genre to create what we all know to be Terry’s sound, putting a bad ass twist on an otherwise conservative house scene. This man is truly a living legend.
