Welcome to the Third Annual World Music and Independent film festival (WMIFF) 2012. WMIFF is established to celebrate and provide a platform of achievements for international cinema artists. Dedicated to building a global film community and supporting emerging filmmakers, WMIFF offers all selected artists exceptional exposure with an inclusive vibe that has won over alumni, attendees, and industry alike. WMIFF festivities are open to all, featuring some of the most talentent artist in both film and music.
About The Festival
Established in 2010, WMIFF is an IMDB qualifying international film festival held annually in Washington D.C the third week of August. WMIFFis proud to showcases and recognizes all global independent artists. The festival lasts seven days emphasizing on diverse talents.
For 2012, WMIFF’s introduction to new and unique categories will help it stand above all the others. We will offer a New Directors Showcase, which will be exclusive and limited to a Director’s first feature-length film; Student/Emerging Filmmakers category will be geared towards students filmmakers and music Artists, Films Directed by Women along with other special spotlights on the works of the South-East Asian
origin. As a special highlight of 2012, our new categories, which is being introduced for the first time in the International Film Festival
circuit is the “Best Male/Female Vocals” in Feature/Short Film in the South-East Asian category. At each festival a number of awards are given out given by an international jury.
This week long festival highlights will include a Gala opening and closing night celebrations, a festival centerpiece presentation, special spotlight on South East Asia Films, International music videos, concluded with a Red Carpet Black Tie Gala Award Banquet held at the prestigious Capital Hilton in Washington DC.The festival attracts celebrities, media journalists, civic and community leaders, film crews and film enthusiast from around the globe as well as the DC metropolitan area which include Virginia and Maryland.In 2010 and 2011, WMIFF wowed attendees and enthusiasts with award winning musical performances along with special guest appearances with five Emmy, two Golden Globe, One Grammy and two times Oscar Nominee ‘Carol Connors, Grammy Award Winner Newang Khechong, Emmy Award

Rohit Gupta joins 2012 WMIFF Global Artistic Advisory Board
Washington D.C. based World Music and independent Film Festival (WMIFF) proudly announced that internationally acclaimed Producer and Director Rohit Gupta has joined the organization’s Global Artistic Advisory Board.
“I am thrilled and delighted to be a member of the Board of the 2012 WMIFF”, commented Gupta. “I believe in WMIFF initiatives and mission and feel honored to be a part of designing its future,” he further added.
Rohit is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning Producer/ Director and amongst a very few to have been awarded with over one hundred international accolades and awards galore in a short span of time, for his films ‘ANOTHER DAY ANOTHER LIFE’ (a 4 minute film) and ‘LIFE! CAMERA ACTION…’ (89 minutes feature film). At WMIFF 2011, both films jointly walked away with 10 nominations and 2 wins for Life! Camera Action…for ‘Best Music’ (Manoj Singh) & ‘Best Supporting Actor’ (Noor Naghmi). ’ANOTHER DAY ANOTHER LIFE’ was also an Official Selection at the prestigious ‘Cannes Film Festival

Rohit will direct the strategic alignment of WMIFF and oversee creative strategies to help aspiring and emerging filmmakers and artists from around the world with a focus on artists of South East Asian descent (including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Tibet, Nepal, Maldives, Bangladesh) help them gain recognition. In the light of this mission, for the upcoming WMIFF 2012, he has already introduced various categories including a ‘New Director’s Showcase’, exclusively limited to a director’s first feature-length film, ‘Student/Emerging Filmmakers’, ‘Best Screenplay Competition’, ‘Films directed by Women’, ‘Best Vocals (Male/Female) for singers of South Asian origin’.
For the first time, Best Vocals category is introduced in an international film festival for South Asians outside of their home country.

WMIFF and our Publisher Team Up!WMIFF has added Publisher Joseph J. O’Donnell to its ranks. Mr. O’Donnell have agreed to join our team and will secure Student Films respectively for WMIFF 2012.
The Student Films and South East Asian category is an important segment of WMIFF. Winners, and contestants, will be mentioned on the agenda and will gain recognition throughout the film industry. Our magazine will also run stories about the event which we publish World-Wide.
Student film makers will be notified where to send your films to be judged and the information needed to do so. The Arts and Entertainment Magazine/ The Eerie Digest are most proud to be a part of this prestigious organization. With the many University’s Student Newspapers that our magazine is presently advertising in, upcoming festival activities are predicted to be eventful with recognition of their films by all of Hollywood.
