With amazing synchronicity, on nearly the same day, Erin Nanasi of Minnesota and Karen Teegarden of Michigan both acted on an idea that many of us had been hoping for … a women’s march on Washington D.C. Erin chose the date of April 28th, 2012, made a video, wrote a blog post and then started a facebook page, “We Are Woman March on Washington DC” which has now been changed to Unite Against the War on Women: Washington, D.C. March. Karen started a facebook group, “Organizing against the war on women“, which has quickly grown to thousands of members and has added groups for each state. Soon the two women connected with each other, and even though you might see different names for the event, it’s all the same women’s March on April 28th, 2012.  read more…

  1. I am disabled and cannot attend but am following this event with pride. I am so tired of hearing about all the ground we have lost in the last 30 years. Just when I thought we were finally going to be considered first class citizens I find that if they could take back the vote they would. No health care, no right of choice, and next I expect the right to education to be denied to us. This is truly an issue that transcends party or race. Half of the population is currently being treated like mindless fools. A statement must be made that cannot be ignored. I hope this march will be what we need. My husband said when it all comes down please remember he was on our side.

  2. Many of us are having a real problem about when this march is.
We made reservations to come on April 28 to DC and now there is much vagueness about when the national march is. Is it in Sept? Is it in April?
Is the one in April simply the Washington version (small) for what everyone else around the country is doing on that day? A clarification would be great

    • Im wondering why this isnt a Nationwide protest at every Capital, in every State? Im on the west coast, but want to show my support. Does anyone know if there is something planned for Olympia?
